This article is about the system cues that appear from September 6, 1999, until August 31, 2008. For the system cues, see System Cues.
Not to be confused with its system cues, List of PBS kids System Cues (2008-2013), List of PBS Kids System Cues (2013-2022), List of PBS Kids System Cues (2015-) or List of PBS Kids System Cues (2022-).

The concept of the 1999-2008 System Cues are a list of 5-second logos that appear after the funding or end credits on any shows from September 6, 1999, until August 31, 2008. There are six system cues. When the PBS Kids circle logo is shown, every system cue have the URL address for PBS Kids at the lower-left hand of the screen. On some occasions, the URL address for PBS Kids may have been removed, with the PBS Kids logo intact.

Unlike the company logo, these system cues omit the word "KIDS" from the logo.

In 2003, beginning with Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks, "KIDS" is added below the PBS Kids circle logo, only for both the Snow Globe and Fishbowl system cues, which are presented in widescreen, with the regular versions continuing to appear on other PBS Kids programs from the time period.

Even though new system cues were made in 2008, the older 1999 ones are still used in some shows such as WordWorld on certain stations as of most likely the late 2010s.

Dash[]

PBS Kids Dash Logo

The "kidsvideo" version of the Dash system cue.

Dash (also called Boy) is the very first system cue on PBS Kids.

Appearance[]

It premiered on television on September 6, 1999, the day when the P-Pals were replaced and when Dragon Tales premiered (his younger sister Dot also got a system cue for her immediately after his own that same day). It can be seen on TV episodes of Arthur (back when Seasons 4-5 were originally aired, alongside a few Seasons 6-8 episodes), Cyberchase, ZOOM, Dragon Tales, Zoboomafoo, Caillou, Barney, Teletubbies, Boohbah, Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat, and Sesame Street, among others. It can also be seen on all episodes of The Berenstain Bears and George Shrinks, as well as the PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch, Thomas & Friends, Between the Lions, Adventures from the Book of Virtues, and Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. A 2-part Clifford the Big Red Dog Valentine's Day episode airing from 2003 and an airing of the episodes "And Birdy Makes 3", "Home is Where The Fun Is", "New Dog In Town" and "Get Well" from 2000, alongside more Clifford episodes such as "Clifford Cleans His Doghouse", and "Baby Makes 4" from 2001 also used this system cue. They have also used this system cue in TV airings of Arthur's Perfect Christmas until the end of 2004, and on VHS releases of Arthur from 2001-2002, including "Arthur's Mystery Files", "Arthur's Storybook", and "Arthur Goes on a Field Trip" (VHS only, the DVD version has the Dash Transformation system cue from 2000). Reader's Digest VHS releases of Arthur, including "Arthur Goes to School," Arthur Helps His Animal Friends", "Arthur Learns to Be a Friend", and "Arthur Discovers Family Togetherness" all use this system cue at the end. Strangely enough, none of the Sony Wonder and Our Time DVDs of Arthur use this system cue, alongside the 2002 Snow Globe system cue at all. However, PBS DVD releases of the show from 2011-2014, alongside some Caillou VHS and DVD releases, most Boohbah VHS releases, most Wild Kratts DVD releases, the DVD of Daniel Tigers Neighborhood: Welcome To The Neighborhood, the DVD of Martha Speaks: Martha Goes to School, a few Teletubbies VHS releases, the VHS of "Zoboomafoo: Sense Sational Animal Friends", some Cyberchase VHS and DVD releases, a Mister Rogers Neighborhood VHS of "Talks About Learning: Vol. 4", and the Jay Jay the Jet Plane DVD releases from 2006-2007 distributed by Paramount, have the "kidsvideo" version of this system cue with audio from the Dot system cue for some reason. This is most likely due to an audio error. As of September 27, 2021, they use this system cue on certain airings of The Berenstain Bears on PBS stations KLCS-DT2 and KVCR-DT3.

Description[]

The system cue starts out on a lime green background with a close up of a left eye. The eye blinks. The camera zooms out, revealing his face, which is a boy (officially named Dash in 2006), who wears a white shirt, blue pants and white shoes. Then, Dash points his left index finger in the head and scratches his head trying to think about something. A great big smile on his face appears and Dash says "Doink!", and then the background becomes a green circle with Dash's face on it, and a white thought bubble appears with the letters "PBS" expanding before it reaches the bubble ending on a pink-striped background.

Audio[]

An acapella of boys scat the first part of the jingle, followed by Dash saying "Doink!", and the boys join together to sing "PBS Kids!".

Dash (kidsvideo)[]

Dash was the very first system cue on home media. (Audio Inversion: Some home releases have the "kidsvideo" version of this system cue with the audio from the Dot system cue for some reason. This is most likely due to an audio error.)

Dot[]

PBS Kids Dot Logo (Greatest Quality)

The "kidsvideo" version of the Dot system cue.

Dot (also called Girl) is the second system cue on PBS Kids.

Appearance[]

It premiered on television on September 6, 1999, the day when the P-Pals were replaced and when Dragon Tales premiered (her older brother Dash also got a system cue for him immediately before her own that same day). It can also be seen on TV episodes of Arthur (back when Seasons 4-5 originally aired on television, as well as VHS and DVD releases of the show; Seasons 4-5, and a few Seasons 6-8 episodes. So far, only five Sony Wonder DVD releases of Arthur use this system cue, and these include Arthur's Famous Friends, Arthur Goes to Hollywood, Arthur's Scary Stories, Arthur's Best School Days, and Arthur Goes to the Doctor. The respective VHS releases of those five Arthur titles also used this system cue (except for Arthur's Tooth, where the season 6 funding with the grassy green grid background was followed by the 2002 Fishbowl system cue instead)). Other shows that use this system cue include Dragon Tales (as well as VHS and DVD releases of the show), Caillou, Cyberchase, Barney, Teletubbies, Boohbah, Sagwa, Thomas & Friends, and Sesame Street, as well as the PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch, Between the Lions, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, ZOOM, Zoboomafoo, and Adventures from the Book of Virtues, among others. It was seen on all TV episodes of Anne of Green Gables: The Animated Series and all episodes of Jay Jay the Jet Plane as well, and some VHS and DVD releases of the show until 2003. Five Clifford the Big Red Dog 2-episode airings of "The Great Race", "Tummy Trouble", "Fluffed Up Cleo", "Team Spirit", "Clifford on Parade", "Follow the Leader", "Who Me, Jealous?" and "A Bunny in a Haystack" from 2000, alongside more Clifford episodes like "Topsy Turvy Day," and "Clifford's Charm School" from 2001 also used this system cue. As of August 26, 2022, the system cue is seen on Amazon Prime prints of Dragon Tales.

Description[]

The system cue starts out on the same lime green background as before (with white lines at the bottom of the screen), and a girl (officially named Dot in 2007), who wears an orange-red striped sweater (the sweater for Dot is instead pink for later versions), appears and runs up to the screen. Once she reaches the center of the screen, a great big smile on her face appears, then the background becomes a green circle with Dot's face on it, and a white thought bubble appears with the letters "PBS" expanding before it reaches the bubble from like before, ending on a multicolored striped background (which consists of magenta, yellow and cyan).

Audio[]

A choir of young girls scat the first part of the jingle, followed by Dot's "Doink!" (which is actually Dash but is at a higher pitch) and the girls join together to sing "PBS Kids!".

Dot (kidsvideo)[]

Dot is the very last system cue on home media. (Audio Inversion: Some home releases have the "kidsvideo" version of this system cue with the audio from the Dash system cue for some reason. This is most likely due to an audio error.)

Dash Transformation[]

PBS_Kids_-_Dash_Transformation_ID_-Best_Quality-

PBS Kids - Dash Transformation ID -Best Quality-

As seen on many 2003-2005 "Arthur" DVDs released by Sony Wonder.

Dash Transformation (also called Transformation) is the third system cue on PBS Kids.

Appearance[]

It premiered on television on September 4, 2000, the day both Caillou (the former show first aired in Canada three years later) and Clifford the Big Red Dog premiered. It can be seen on shows like Arthur back when Seasons 1-6 reran on television until the launch of PBS Kids Go, this system cue came after the Velveeta cheese-yellow or the grassy green grid background of the Seasons 7-8 funding that are both most commonly taken from Seasons 1-4 reruns, and also after the concord grape jelly purple checkerboard background of the Season 6 funding, that is used on Season 6, and reruns of Season 5. It can also be seen on a few Seasons 7-8 episodes of Arthur. Several Arthur DVD releases from the 2000s distributed by Sony Wonder also used this system cue, beginning with Arthur's Tasty Treats, which was released on June 10, 2003. All the June 2003 releases of Arthur, some of the September 2003 DVD releases of Arthur, which included the DVDs of "Arthur's Teacher Trouble", and Arthur's Pet Business, alongside most of the January-June 2004 releases of Arthur, all the August-October 2004 releases of Arthur, most of the February 2005 releases of Arthur (except for the Sony Wonder DVD of "Arthur's Tooth", the 2002 Fishbowl system cue is used instead), and the May 2005 DVD releases of Arthur, including "Arthur Goes on a Field Trip" (DVD only, the 1999 Dash system cue is used from 1999), and "Arthur Makes a Movie" all used this system cue, and so far, this was the most common system cue on the Sony Wonder DVDs of Arthur, appearing on over 20 titles. A few Reader's Digest VHS releases of Arthur, like "Arthur's Pet Problems", "Arthur Learns About Honesty", and "Arthur Faces His Fears" also used this system cue. The Our Time Family Entertainment release of Arthur's Family Ties, which was released on March 8, 2005, also used this system cue at the end. However, the VHS and DVD of Arthur the Big Riddle has an abridged/short version of this system cue where Dash only transforms in robot form. Other shows that use this system cue include Barney & Friends, Zoboomafoo, Cyberchase, ZOOM, Boohbah, Teletubbies, Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat, Caillou, Mama Mirabelle's Home Movies, Sesame Street, Plaza Sesamo (Spanish-language version), the PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch, and Thomas & Friends, among others. Strangely enough, it was seen on an episode of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. An error has occurred on one Season 1 episode of Clifford's Puppy Days, titled "Friends of All Ages" and "Clifford's Super Sleepover", back on Rocky Mountain PBS in 2003, where they used the Dash Transformation system cue's audio on a Dot Transformation system cue. Three Clifford the Big Red Dog 2-episode airings of "To Catch a Bird", "The Best Party Ever", "Come Back Mac", "Boo!", "Doing the Right Thing" and "The Dog Who Cried Woof" from 2000, also used this system cue.

Description[]

The system cue starts off with an aqua green background and lime green circles. Dot, as from the fourth system cue, can be seen transforming in the background, and while in the foreground, Dash (with brown (or pinkish red) skin instead of lime green) is at first a caveman, transforming into a scuba diver (with pink, or bright purple skin instead of lime green) as the background becomes sky blue, the ring of circles became pale cyan as they zoom towards the screen and land becomes water. He then transforms into a robot (with yellow metallic color instead of lime green) as a few stars and light streaks are shown on a dark blue background, grabs the thought bubble with the letters "PBS" on it with red horseshoe magnet hands, and then turns into the circular PBS Kids logo with Dash's face in it afterwards on a medium-pale spring bud background with indigo bubbles wobbling and shaking.

Audio[]

An acapella plays the first part of the jingle, followed by a bubbling up like a rocket ship sound effect with robotic gasps sounds (which suspiciously replaces the "DOINK!" sound). Then, the boys join together to start singing "PBS Kids!" in a higher tone.

Dot Transformation[]

PBS_Kids_-_Dot_Transformation_ID_-Best_Quality-

PBS Kids - Dot Transformation ID -Best Quality-

As seen on several 2002-2004 "Arthur" DVDs released by Sony Wonder. Also found on the "Reading Rainbow" DVD releases of "Unique Monique" and "Mr. George Baker".

Dot Transformation (also called Transformation) is the fourth system cue on PBS Kids.

Appearance[]

It premiered on television on September 4, 2000, the day both Caillou and Clifford the Big Red Dog premiered. It can also be seen on shows like Arthur also back when Seasons 1-6 reran until the launch of "PBS Kids Go!", this system cue came after the concord grape jelly purple checkerboard background version of the Seasons 7-8 funding that is most commonly taken from Seasons 1-4 reruns, and also after the Velveeta cheese-yellow background and the grassy green grid background of the Season 6 funding, that is used on Season 6, and reruns of Season 5. It can also be seen on at least some Arthur episodes from Seasons 7-8, alongside both the 2000 Dash Transformation system cue, the 2002 Fishbowl system cue, and the 2002 Snow Globe system cue. Most of the time, the grassy green grid background version of the Season 6 funding was followed by this system cue on VHS and DVD releases (except for the Sony Wonder DVD of "Arthur's Tooth", where the Season 6 funding with the grassy green grid background was followed by the 2002 Fishbowl system cue instead). This has been seen on 12 releases of Arthur from 2002-2005, with nine of them distributed by Sony Wonder, and three of the Our Time Family Entertainment releases. The Arthur releases that use this system cue include "Arthur: The Good Sport" (the Sony Wonder version was released on June 11, 2002, which was the first Arthur release to use this system cue), "Arthur's Family Fun" and "Arthur's Snow Day" (both released on January 14, 2003). Then on September 2, 2003, this system cue was used concurrently with the Dash Transformation system cue, and appeared on the releases of "Arthur Gets Spooked" and "Arthur Cracks the Case". This system cue also appeared on "Arthur's Pet Follies", which was the only Arthur release from January 27, 2004 to have this system cue, and the DVD version of "Arthur's Eyes", which was released on June 8, 2004. After June 8, 2004, this system cue stopped appearing on anymore Arthur releases from Sony Wonder, for a while after June 8, they only fixed with the Dash Transformation system cue on the Sony Wonder releases of Arthur, until after 11 months, where this system cue made a surprise comeback on May 10, 2005, on the Sony Wonder DVDs of "You Are Arthur" and "Arthur Goes Crosswire". It also appeared on the Our Time Family Entertainment releases of "Arthur Gets Along", released on September 7, 2004, and Growing Up With Arthur, released on May 31, 2005. This also appeared on the Our Time Family Entertainment release of "Arthur's Family Fun", combining "Arthur's Family Ties" and "Growing Up With Arthur" all compelled together onto one DVD disc. Other shows that use this system cue include Barney & Friends, Thomas & Friends, Cyberchase, ZOOM, Boohbah, DragonflyTV, Mama Mirabelle's Home Movies, Thomas & Friends, Jakers!: The Adventures of Piggley Winks, Teletubbies, Reading Rainbow, Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat, Caillou, Zoboomafoo, Sesame Street, Plaza Sesamo (Spanish-language version), and the PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch, among others. It was seen surprisingly, on a few episodes of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. It is also seen on a handful of Clifford the Big Red Dog episodes on television, as well as the 2003-06 short-lived, spin-off prequel series, Clifford's Puppy Days.

Description[]

The system cue starts off almost identical to the previous system cue with the same aqua green background and lime green circles, but Dash can be seen transforming in the background, while in the foreground, Dot (with tiger orange skin instead of lime green) is at first a tiger that is covering up her ears, transforming into a purple octopus (with pink (or bright purple skin) and six dark purple tentacles instead of lime green) where Dot puffs up her cheeks and makes a great big smile on her face, as the background becomes sky blue, the ring of circles became pale cyan as they zoom towards the screen and land becomes water. She then transforms into an astronaut (with aquamarine, or teal skin instead of lime green) as a few stars and light streaks are shown in a dark blue background. She gets ready for a trip to the moon, floats up slightly as another great big smile on her face appears, and turns into the circular PBS Kids logo with Dot's face in it afterwards on a dark blue background with twirling 6-pointed stars and dashed swirl marks.

Audio[]

The same acapella plays the first part of the jingle but in an octave higher, followed by the same bubbling up like a rocket ship sound effect with some astronaut sounds (such as the THX-like sound), something that sounds suspiciously more like "DOY!" than "Doink!", and then the girls join together to start singing "PBS Kids!" in the same higher tone that the boys sang in the previous system cue.

Snow Globe[]

As seen on a WGVU airing of WordWorld.

The widescreen version as seen on a TV airing of Jakers!: The Adventures of Piggley Winks on PBS station WNET.

Snow Globe, also spelled Snowglobe, is the fifth system cue on PBS Kids.

You can also see the 2015 system cue of the same name in List of PBS Kids System Cues (2015-).

Appearance[]

It premiered on television on January 21, 2002, the day Cyberchase premiered. It can be seen on shows like Sesame Street (beginning in Season 33, although no video has been sourced of a Season 33 episode with this logo), Angelina Ballerina, Barney, Caillou, Cyberchase, Nanalan', Jakers!: The Adventures of Piggley Winks (beginning in season 1, the "KIDS" variant is only used particularly), Thomas & Friends (with some episodes from Seasons 8-12), Curious George, Bob the Builder (with a few airings), It's a Big Big World, Super WHY! (original broadcasts and NETFLIX prints only, the 2008 system cues are only used on other broadcasts) and WordWorld (some 2007-2011 broadcasts only, the 2008 system cues are only used on other broadcasts) among others. It was also seen on a Jay Jay the Jet Plane episode from 2005 for some reason. A few Clifford the Big Red Dog Season 2 episodes and a few Clifford's Puppy Days episodes use this system cue. Apparently, this system cue was not seen on any of the Sony Wonder and Our Time Family Entertainment releases of Arthur. The 1999 Dash system cue was not seen on any of the Sony Wonder and Our Time Family Entertainment DVD releases of Arthur, either. However, although no video has been confirmed, this system cue was usually seen on at least a few episodes of Arthur from Seasons 7-8, with at least one or two Season 7 episodes of Arthur, using this system cue after the Season 7 funding with concord grape jelly purple checkerboard background (although on the DVD of "Arthur's Family Ties", and other episodes like "Elwood City Turns 100" and "Francine's Split Decision" and "Muffy Goes Metropolitan", shown on two KBTC program breaks from 2003, the 2000 Dash Transformation system cue is used instead). When the "PBS Kids Go!" block was launched, this system cue, alongside the others, were no longer seen on shows like Arthur and Cyberchase, and they were replaced with the "PBS Kids Go!" system cues. This system cue is also shown on DVD releases of It's a Big Big World, after the website promo. This system cue, along with the "Fishbowl" system cue, were also used on a PBS Kids 2000-2001 montage that features other PBS Kids bumpers, most of which were most likely produced and premiered. Although no video has been sourced, an error has occurred on one Season 2 episode of Clifford the Big Red Dog titled "A Big Help" and "The Trouble with Kittens", back on Rocky Mountain PBS in 2003, where they used the Snow Globe system cue's audio on a Dot Transformation 2000 system cue. Another similar error happened, where they used this system cue's audio on a Fishbowl system cue on a WordWorld episode on WGVU back in 2020 and on a widescreen print of an episode of Nanalan' also back in 2020 (however, on this said latter show, this system cue makes a one-frame appearance at the end of the Fishbowl system cue; this is most likely due to an editing mistake, as this system cue was not supposed to be seen at the end with this said system cue's audio being used from the Fishbowl system cue itself). Apparently, this system cue was not seen on Sid the Science Kid, nor both Betsy's Kindergarten Adventures, Martha Speaks and Lomax the Hound of Music use this system cue. The system cue’s last day on TV was between 2012 and 2013 probably on a Thomas & Friends episode from the model era.

Description[]

The system cue starts off with Dash (with light blue (or sky blue) skin instead of lime green) on a snowy field with green trees, who is seen wearing a scarf, a jacket, mittens, and a pair of ice-skating boots. He is then seen ice skating on a blue pond, with snowflakes in front of the screen coming down. Suddenly, he feels the ground shaking and stops. Then, the second time Dash ice-skates, the screen pans out to reveal that he is inside a snow globe (with the bottom part of it colored most likely in yellow), which is held by Dot (with powdered light blue skin, or whiteish light blue, like the color of the background instead of lime green). She is seen shaking the snow globe just to make it snow and then giggles. Snow covers the screen to transition to the circular PBS Kids logo with Dot's face on it afterwards on a powdered light blue background with snowflakes.

Audio[]

A winter version of the first part of the jingle plays in a different key with a vibraphone (possibly spoofing C. E. Levy's "Skater's Waltz" but in F major), accompanied by jingle bells, followed by Dot's "Doink!" (alternated from the Dot system cue) and the girls singing "PBS Kids!" in a higher tone.

Audio Note[]

The "PBS Kids!" chant sounds less like singing and more like a simple yell. It ends with the girl's short laughter before the system cue ends. It's unknown if the viewers might also hear the "PBS Kids" chant from the 1999 Dot system cue.

Variant[]

  • Widescreen/"KIDS" Version: A widescreen version of this system cue exists, with the word "KIDS" below the PBS Kids circle logo (just like the company did back in 2001), that most-likely premiered on September 7, 2003, the day when Jakers!: The Adventures of Piggley Winks premiered, being presented in true widescreen. This variant can be seen on shows such as season 1 and some season 2 episodes of Jakers!: The Adventures of Piggley Winks. In 2007, this system cue, alongside the next one, were no longer used anymore when Jakers stopped airing on PBS Kids, with the regular version respectively intact on other PBS Kids programming from the time. Strangely enough, this system cue was not seen on the Primal Screen website, where the next system cue shown below is seen instead. Although people believe this, and the 2002 Snow Globe system cue is the same, well there are many differences about the two. For beginners, it is zoomed out at the beginning of the scene of Dash ice-skating, and is also tinted in lavender, respectively, and a little lighter as well, alongside the background, but it's darker. The pond on a snowy field strangely has a different shape (which somehow represents the Arabian numeral "6"). The background when Dot is shown is to have no snowflakes before the logo is shown. The bottom part of the snow globe is colored instead in dark-grey. Dot's eyes are looking down instead of at the viewer (her eyes are also shrunken as well), and she seems to bring the snow globe, getting more closer to her. Strangely, in this variant, she has fingers, and "KIDS" is added to the circular PBS Kids logo.
  • Cropped widescreen variant: This variant is only used on Nanalan' (one-frame appearance only due to an editing mistake), and TV airings of Super WHY! and It's a Big Big World.

Fishbowl[]

Appearance[]

It premiered on television on January 21, 2002, the day Cyberchase premiered. It can be seen on shows like Sesame Street (beginning in Season 33, alongside the Snow Globe system cue, but no video was sourced of a season 33 episode with that same latter system cue), Barney & Friends, Caillou, Cyberchase, Betsy's Kindergarten Adventures, Nanalan', Jakers!: The Adventures of Piggley Winks (beginning in season 2, but the "KIDS" variant is only used particularly), Sid the Science Kid (rare prints only, the "KIDS" variant is only used, but most prints and broadcasts use the 2008 system cues immediately), Lomax the Hound of Music (the "KIDS" variant is only used), Angelina Ballerina, Thomas & Friends (used in some episodes from Seasons 8-12), Bob the Builder (used in most episodes from Seasons 7-16), WordWorld (some 2007-2011 broadcasts only, the 2008 system cues are only used on other broadcasts), Super WHY! (original broadcasts and NETFLIX prints only, the 2008 system cues are only used on other broadcasts) and Martha Speaks (beginning with early episodes, although no video has been sourced with this logo), among others. A few Clifford's Puppy Days episodes and a few Clifford the Big Red Dog Season 2 episodes use this system cue as well. It has also been spotted on some television airings of Arthur from Season 7, that came after the Season 7 funding with the grassy green grid background (including a 2003 PBS Kids program break recorded off of Rocky Mountain PBS). Although no videos are sourced, it was also seen on at least one Arthur episode from Season 8. Like before, when the "PBS Kids Go!" block was launched, this system cue, alongside the others, were no longer seen on programming like Arthur or Cyberchase. This is the rarest system cue shown on Arthur releases by Sony Wonder, as it only appeared on two releases of Arthur by Sony Wonder, such as both the 2002 VHS and DVD releases of "Arthur: It's Only Rock 'n' Roll", and the 2005 DVD of "Arthur's Tooth", which was released on February 1, 2005. This system cue was also used on the "PBS Kids Pet-Tacular" from 2003, after the Arthur Season 6 episode "The Secret Life of Dogs and Babies". This system cue, along with the previous one, was also used on a PBS Kids 2000-2001 montage that features other PBS Kids bumpers, most of which were produced and premiered between 2000 and 2001. This is the rarest system cue to be also shown after the Polkadot Productions logo on some prints of Betsy's Kindergarten Adventures. Although no video has been sourced, this system cue is also used after the funding credits on the Martha Speaks ending credits music video shown here. This system cue also made an appearance on several DVD releases of WordWorld, released by NCircle Entertainment from 2007 to 2013. This system cue made it’s last appearance on TV on November 14, 2015 on the last airing of classic Bob the Builder.

Description[]

The system cue starts off on a lime green background with Dash looking at a goldfish in the fishbowl on a desk. Inside a fishbowl is a brown-colored castle made up of something that looks more like a sand at the bottom-left corner of it. He then comes behind the fishbowl as the screen cuts to a close-up view of it the goldfish is in. Bubbles then cover the screen to transition to an aquarium view of Dash, who is imagining that he is a goldfish (his face during his imagination is colored orange) that is swimming in peace under the water, with it colored in light blue (similar for the previous system cue) and aquamarine. After a second, he gets swallowed up in his imagination by Dot, who is also imagining that she is a green fish. Bubbles cover the screen again to transition to the circular PBS Kids logo with Dot's face on it afterwards on a light blue underwater view with bubbles.

Audio[]

A boy scats the first part of the 1999 jingle in a higher tone (similar for a couple of the two previous system cues) circle-lipped as if to imitate a fish, with bubbling sounds heard in the background. It then ends with the same ending audio from before.

Variant[]

  • Widescreen/"KIDS" version: A widescreen version of this system cue exists, with the word "KIDS" below the PBS Kids circle logo (just like the company did back in 2001), that also premiered on September 7, 2003, the day when Jakers!: The Adventures of Piggley Winks premiered, which is presented in true widescreen. This variant can be seen on shows such as Jakers!: The Adventures of Piggley Winks. This system cue first appeared on most episodes of the aforementioned series. Like before, in 2007, this system cue, alongside the previous one, were no longer used anymore when Jakers stopped airing on PBS Kids (like before, the regular version of both this and the previous system cues are intact on other PBS Kids programming from the time), but it might have presumably made a surprise comeback in 2008, as it only appears on releases or prints of programs, such as the 2008 promotional DVD of "Lomax the Hound of Music: The Best Of Lomax", which uses this system cue after the Lomax the Hound of Music funding. Although no videos are sourced; this is the rarest system cue shown on August 2008 prints of the earliest season 1 episodes from Sid The Science Kid, those being "The Sticker Chart", "The Rolie Polie", or "Enough with the Seashells", using this system cue after the season 1 funding without The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations logo. The 2006 Paramount Home Entertainment promotional VHS release of Jakers: Piggley Gets Into Trouble also used this system cue as well. This is the only system cue shown on a Primal Screen website for some reason. Like before, although people believed this, and the 2002 Fishbowl system cue is the same, well there are a very fewer differences than the 2003 widescreen Snow Globe system cue, due to the fact that this system cue wasn't re-animated. For beginners, it is zoomed in a bit at the beginning for the scene of Dash coming behind his fishbowl. The close-up view of the fishbowl where Dash is coming behind it is zoomed out slightly. After the bubbles cover the screen to transition to an aquarium view, the camera might have been off-center and stabilized, unfortunately. The bubbles where they are transitioning to each scene seems to have a different look of it. The background when the PBS Kids logo is shown is zoomed out. Like before, "KIDS" is added to the circular PBS Kids logo.
  • Cropped Widescreen Variant: This variant is only used on Nanalan', and TV airings of both Super WHY! and Martha Speaks.

Currently, the system cue ("KIDS" variant only) is seen on YouTube and Amazon Prime prints of the earliest Sid the Science Kid season 1 episodes, those including "Enough with the Seashells!". On the same prints of the aforementioned series, the rest of the other episodes of Sid the Science Kid are the exceptions to both this and the previous one, which the video may end after the Jim Henson Company logo instead.
